We are always saddened to hear news like this. Evan Williams reporting for Florida Weekly in a story titled Art on the Chopping Block says that in spite of the clear value and importance of art education in elementary schools, current budget short falls are forcing school administrators to cut funding.
"Art and music are not something we're given money for," Dr. Browder said. "We have to pay for that above (state funding).
"I'm indignant that I have to do this to children. I'm absolutely not in favor of cutting it. It's the wrong thing to do. However, when you have the potential of $50 to $70 million in reductions, you have to go to those areas where you are above the formula. Is it the best situation? No. But it's something that we can manage."
One way to take action to prevent this is to contact your Florida State Senators and Representatives.

We have been hearing a lot of great things about this New Jersey studio, Bass Arts Studio.
Located in Montclair, our home town as well, the studio offers classes throughout the year. There are 3 semesters, Fall, Winter and Spring, in addition to a Summer Art Camp for children ages 7-12. For teens, we offer a Summer Teen Art Studio Intensive as well as Fashion Camp.
