Art as Therapy

We would like to share a wonderful story with you of how a very dedicated mom has found a whole new world with her child through art.

"I’m a pretty creative person. I love to knit, recently taught myself how to crochet and use any excuse to create a home made card using my portable dye cutting machine. When my daughter was born, I couldn’t wait until she was old enough to join me. And as a result of my enthusiasm, my now three year old drops whatever she is doing when she sees me open our treasure chest of art to see if she can play too."

American Art Therapy Association

The American Art Therapy Association (AATA) is an organization of professionals dedicated to the belief that the creative process involved in art making is healing and life enhancing. Its mission is to serve its members and the general public by providing standards of professional competence, and developing and promoting knowledge in, and of, the field of art therapy. The AATA represents approximately 5,000 members and 36 AATA State and Regional Chapters that conduct meetings and activities to promote art therapy on the local level. http://www.arttherapy.org/
